How to dry ABS and ASA

Keep the product, spool and drying-method limits together when choosing a cycle.

ABS and ASA share a page here for navigation, not because they share one drying programme. Use the maker's instructions for the exact product.

An ABS reference

SUNLU lists 75–85 °C for 6–8 hours for its ABS entry. Confirm the exact product and spool limits before selecting within the published range. Source: SUNLU, checked 25 October 2026.

A product-specific reference

Bambu Lab's ASA Aero data sheet specifies 80 °C for 8 hours in a blast drying oven. It also gives a separate X1 heatbed method; the heatbed temperature is not a chamber-air setting. Source: Bambu Lab ASA Aero TDS, checked 25 October 2026.

Do not transfer this example to every ASA spool or to ABS. Use the drying table to find the relevant maker row.

Check the whole setup

Read the spool limit and the dryer's loading and ventilation instructions. Confirm that the temperature you select belongs to the drying method you are using. A printer-bed temperature and a forced-air drying temperature describe different arrangements.

Finish with protected storage

Prepare the sealed container before the cycle ends. Keep the product label and your cycle note with the spool so the next drying decision doesn't rely on memory.

If the maker's prescribed cycle doesn't improve the print fault, investigate other causes before repeating it at a higher temperature.
