Drying PC and PVA: two separate lookups
Check product-specific instructions before drying engineering or water-soluble filament.
PC and PVA need separate instructions. They appear together in this guide to help you avoid applying a generic engineering-filament preset to both.
PC: read beyond the material family
Prusa lists 85 °C for 5 hours for PC Blend and 90 °C for 4 hours for PC Blend Carbon Fiber. Keep those products separate. Source: Prusa, checked 25 October 2026.
A PC blend and a filled PC product can have different published cycles. Check the complete product name against the drying table or its technical sheet. Confirm that the spool itself can tolerate the required drying process.
PVA: don't borrow a PC setting
SUNLU's current quick-start page lists 50–60 °C for 8–12 hours for PVA. Check the current product documentation before using this range: older indexed versions of SUNLU guidance showed a different temperature. If the spool's own sheet differs, resolve that with SUNLU rather than choosing the hotter figure. Source: SUNLU, checked 25 October 2026.
Before buying a dryer for either material, establish the drying requirement and supported feed arrangement. A machine's material compatibility list doesn't replace the instructions for your spool.
Keep handling deliberate
Have protected storage ready and label the spool with the cycle you used. If you print from a dryer, check that both the material and the feed system are supported. Avoid assuming that a unit which can heat a spool can also feed every filament reliably.
For persistent problems after the prescribed cycle, contact the filament maker with the product name, equipment and cycle details rather than repeatedly raising the temperature.
