How to dry PLA without choosing the wrong setting
PLA drying guidance varies by maker and formulation. Match the exact spool before applying heat.
For PLA, use the recommendation for the product on your spool. A silk, wood-filled or blended PLA should not inherit a setting simply because the label contains PLA.

Polymaker lists 55 °C for 6 hours for PolyLite PLA. This is a product-specific recommendation, not a universal PLA preset. Source: Polymaker, checked 25 October 2026.
Before starting
Check the spool construction as well as the filament. Remove packaging that is not intended to be heated and make sure the reel fits without touching the heater or obstructing the fan. Follow the dryer's ventilation instructions.
Use the drying table to compare published PLA rows. Where the maker has supplied a range, keep that range visible rather than treating its upper end as a universal target.
After the cycle
Let the spool cool as the equipment maker directs, then print or seal it away. Keep a note of the exact product, cycle and result. If drying doesn't improve the fault, return to troubleshooting rather than increasing the heat.
A dry box helps protect a dried spool between prints; it is a different job from active drying.
